Kuching

I LOVE KUCHING!
YOU WILL TOO!

This post is FINALLY up and ready! My 2 week trip to Kuching was a total blast. The food was awesome and it was great meeting up with my friends from Perth one last time. I gotta thank Lionel for everything during the 2 weeks. His family was nice enough to let me stay on at their place, and not forgetting the countless times they brought me around Kuching and at the same time making me feel at home. It was nice to meet up with Nick, Brandon, Raymond, Madeleine, Chin Howe, Derek, Jane, Kai, Karen and Adrian... all hail from Kuching (except for Ray). And last but not least, Sarawak Laksa kick's ass! I'm addicted to it! Right now, I'm suffering from withdrawal symptoms. Hope to visit Kuching another time, and hopefully spend more time at Damai. Enjoy the pics... you should.. after all that hard work!

All hail the Sarawak Laksa! Crave it!

The not-so-original laksa. Fusion laksa as Lionel calls it.

The Sunday Market. You can find almost anything. From fruits...
...to little fishies...
...and even THIS! Sago worms... yum!

Welcome to Friendship Park.

A nice place for a little stroll.
Can even take a quick shower too!

The Kuching Museum. Think I got the name right.
Lookie what I found. Graphic... indeed.
The nice little park behind the museum. I think it also has a name.
And here we have two silly people running at a painted wall.

Yes. I know.. I know.. Poser.
Me and Cheeky!
My oh my! Just pretend it isn't there.
Damn! The root's taller than me!

Bing! Coffee Company. Love them Red Mango Smoothies..
..love the ambience..
..and love them pictures!

Spooky ain't it?
The Civic Centre that wasn't open for us. @#$%!

Indian Street. How peaceful... unlike daytime.
Now.. who's the cheeky one?

Derek playing with his arsenal of knives.

Oooo.. Nasty!

And here we have Damai Beach.
The Resort that I failed to stay in.
Pretty place. Sigh.

Look at those two kids (Lionel & Derek) racing each other down.
Damai Lagoon.
It's a pity I could not take a pic of that pretty girl at the pool.
Around the lobby, cuz that's as far as security permits us to go.

The Place that houses the Cat Museum. Yes, it also has a name.

Kittens up for grabs!
View from the top.

A FEW pictures "stolen" from Raymond.

Enjoyed it?

I know you did.

Arsenal kicks ass.

ARSENAL
Go Arsenal! Beat them all!
Make me happy!

Julio "The Beast" Baptista scores a brace to come back against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

Thierry Henry bags the winner against Manchester United.

The starlets of Arsenal. Henry and Van Persie beat ManU 2-1.

Arsenal kicked Liverpool's butt 6-3 and 3-1 on both occasions.

ARSENAL...
GUN THEM DOWN!

Looking back.

The Year 2006.

2006. What a year it has been. My wonderful experience studying in Perth will never be forgotten. After all the ups and downs in this roller coaster ride, I've seen and been through things that have changed me entirely. I view things in a different way now. Hopefully this change is for the better.

Love was taken from me. Stolen. Snatched. Lost. I've learnt to let go and move on. I thought it would have killed all that's left of me. It ripped me apart and sliced right through me. Like a hot knife through butter. But there was something that kept me going. My friends. I would sound selfish if I didn't say my family was involved, they have also guided me through. Even my wonderful friends back home made an impact. But it was my friends in Perth that pulled me up. I've mentioned many names, and there's no need for me to repeat it as they know who they are. This tragedy has made me stronger as a person. I hope. That's what many people say. But I really hope it has happened for a reason.

Besides this incident, I've had many, many happy times in Perth. As friends, we've gone through thick and thin and have pulled through till the end... together. It has definitely made us stronger as friends and this bond cannot be replaced. Same goes for the friends back home in Singapore. I can never forget all the good times we had.

Memories in Perth will be kept and treasured. Like the first time we met each other in orientation. It felt just like yesterday. I miss the times when we all came together for dinner parties and gatherings. The times when we had our countless badminton adventures. Our drinking parties. The many birthday celebrations and BBQ outings. Our break sessions in the recreation centre. The fun chit chat times in the library when we were supposed to be studying quietly. The awesome sleepovers and hanging out in the city. The high speed (and reckless) driving and drag racing. Everything is special to me, and I'm sure the same goes for everyone else.

Last of all, it's great to be back. I love my family, my friends and my life. To have you guys in my life is the best thing that has happened to me this year. Thank you everyone. May you have a blessed year ahead. Good luck and all the best!

Peace out.

Tasha is sick.

My dear Tasha.

Oh dear, Tasha is sick. Really sick. She's diagnosed with tick-fever and she's looking extremely pale. She's been fainting almost everyday now. Sometimes even three times a day. There was once when she was out cold for 5 min, and I thought she would never wake up again. She just went for her injection which is meant to rid her body of the bug. But damn, this injection has this chance of causing nerve damage or brain damage, and that's what I fear might happen. But this is the only way out, cause the doc said she'd slowly die in 3 months time if we skip the jab.

So here's a prayer to the Almighty.

Please heal Tasha. Make her strong. Keep her safe.

Christmas Parties!

PARTY TIME!
Feel the festive joy! L-R, David, Meifang, Me and Jolene.
The Reunion. Love you guys.

I have to say, this Christmas is the best yet! I had an awesome time with my buddies (5 years and counting!) Sean, David, Brandon, Meifang, Jasmine, Baoqi and Jolene. On Christmas Eve, Jasmine was kind enough to invite us over for a party with the rest of her family and other relatives. And before that, I was being a very good boy by going to church 2 times! Well, once with my family and the other time was when Brandon asked us (Me and Sean) to visit his church once more - this time with Jasmine and Meifang.

Oops! Caught fooling around with Pink Panther's ... tail.

One's missing. Bao, you were LATE!

We made our way down to Jasmine's place after the 3 of us guys went for a little stroll at Tampines. The bus ride was a crazily long journey. And guess what? We met an old friend along the way - Jieying. It was nice to see her again after an entire year in Perth.

So we had a buffet dinner at Jasmine's place and there was this huge Christmas Tree planted in her hallway. We spent the night playing cards, watching movies... ah-ha... and not to be forgotten... drinking! Oh yes! We were drinking like pros! However, a certain someone by the name of Meifang went drunk and high. Well, we were high too, but we weren't as bad as her. Haha! Pardon me Meifang. We were playing a drinking game involving vodka shots, introduced to us by 2 other friends of ours - Samantha and Daryl. So apparently, Meifang had too much. Haha. Nuff' said. :P

We crashed after that at approximately 0430 on Christmas morning. Sean and I had a short nap before we left at 6 cuz he had to rush off to church. All of us had red puffy eyes and a bad hangover. Haha. It was expected. Slept like a log after that.

And I woke up knowing...

IT'S CHRISTMAS!

Christmas was kinda ... laid back I can say. Didn't do much really. Stayed at home till finally David rescued me. I was told to have dinner at Meifang's place with Jasmine, Bao, David and Meifang herself. The rest could not make it as they were sleeping. I think.

We shopped for steamboat and I must say the dinner was great. We kinda misjudged our eating abilities and ended up with tons of left overs. The Unagi was the best!

After that, we chilled out in Meifang's room till 0130 in the morning, talking bout LOTS of stuff. That included our dirty little secrets. Uh-oh. Hmm, it was great just hanging out and talking bout our problems and like I said, other "stuff". There was this bond that I never realised till last night. It was amazing. Had lotsa fun ppl! Hope we can have more of these eh?

Pics will be posted up (I hope). Unless I'm too lazy to use my hp's cable.

Had a wonderful Christmas!

Thanks everyone!

Rain is HERE!

Ok..people.. rain is here! Well not the korean pop star. I was watching MTV when Rain's video was on, and the lyircs was something like this:
"rain is coming down and it won't stop...blahblahblah".
And there I was looking out my window thinking, "DAMN! It really won't stop!!!". Right now, Singapore is experiencing one of its heaviest downpours in history. It has been raining non-stop for 24hrs or so... and it's not doing any good for my soccer plans. Great. And also, some research thingy has showned that the heaviest downpour is in MY area. Awesome. Now, how am I supposed to play soccer??? But.. ahh.. the weather is nice. Nice and cool. Ahhhh... sweet!

After 1/2 an hour, the water level reached the knees.
In other parts, people were wading in waters up to their waist.
Good thing for me, I only got my shoes SOAKED to the core!
Which is still a bad thing.
Can't it just be cloudy and not rain?
Peace out.

Another Saturday..

Woot. Alright people. Ryan is on his way to improving his damned fitness! In the morning, I kinda managed to pull my lazy a** out of bed to go work out with two freakin fit bros of mine - MJ and Yirui. Well, I made my first attempt at running my 2.4km at YCK Stadium (not in the comfort of the airconditioned gym). Yes. It was a BIG step. I swear it was.

First, the heat made me lazy. Lethargic. And anything else that describes my usual attitude towards running. Ha, which is basically negative attitude. Well, I guess the heat was the only problem. Either way, I came up with a "decent" timing, and hopefully I can improve it by at least 3 mins or so by the time I get in to NS. Gym was after that, and I met some old friends of mine - Spencer and Teng Hong. Did some weights and that's about it. Spent more time catching up with Spencer though. Ha.
Hmm.. later in the evening Brandon had invited us to a magic show prepared by his church (my former church), Faith Community Baptist Church (FCBC). The show was titled "The Magic Of Love". It was a blast. The illusions and magic performed that night was pretty amazing and it was great experience. Thanks Brandon. Sadly only four of us went, that is, Me, David, Sean and Brandon himself. Meifang and Jasmine could not make it, so we were left with just four lonely boys. LOL. Haha. But we didn't mind, did we Sean? HAHA!! Stop thinking bout Sharlene mate! And I'll stop thinking bout mine!
Apologise for the no-photo-posts. Seems like my friends here in Singapore aren't so photo crazy as those from Perth. Haha! Guess I'll have to take the lead and start snapping away eh?

The food was great. But expensive.

Had a great time guys.

Worked out.

Yes. Finally started my working out sessions. Great. Now I think my second home will be the gym and the running track (soon). Gotta thank MJ and Sean fer encouraging me to start this quest to get all fit and ready for my damned National Service.

Today, I did two sets of 2.4km jogs, without stopping! Wow! But the timing sucked. Guess I'll listen to MJ and for the moment, and just aim for endurance. Pull ups are not very successful.. yet. Hopefully overtime it'll pay off.

After that, we met Baoqi and went to MJ's house. We watched a couple of movies there... like 'Saw', which wasn't very pleasant. Wanted to a have a dip in his indoor swimming pool, but it was filled with flies. So sadly we had to pass. And later in the day, we had soccer! Yea! Well not exactly yea, cuz it wasn't really my day. Hope I'll play better next time. Oh well, now I'm totally beat and my internet's not working thanks to Singtel. Sith! We didn't pay for nothing assholes! Ok... I'm getting aggressive. Guess I'm just freakin tired. Alright then.. hope my next post will have some pictures.. cuz my posts are starting to get boring. See ya peeps.. missing Perth and all of my friends. Sigh. Out! :D

Friends For Life.

This entry will be dedicated to my friends from Perth. Thanks for all the good times. I guess I won't be seeing many of you next year thanks to my National Service. But I pray that our paths will cross again in the future, for its has only been one year with all of you. One year sure isn't enough for me. I want to come back next year, but I can't. But no matter what, all of you will be remembered forever. I'll keep all these precious memories locked up in my heart. When I'm down and feeling lonely, I'll look and think back to the times when we had fun together. All the laughters and the joy, and all the tears and pain that we've been through together. Awesome! What a year it has been! Looking forward to the day I visit Perth next year. It'll be during my 2 week break for NS. Hope to see you guys there!

Emptiness.

What's wrong with me?
I'm feeling all empty now.
Like there's no purpose to everyday.
There used to be a reason I wake up everyday.
Not anymore. For I've given up.
Let go. Move on.
But still, there's this terrible feeling.
The feeling that she does not see me as a friend.
Right now, I wish I could turn back time.
Turn back time so that I could mend things.
Turn back time so I can just be friends with her.
Turn back time so I would not have lost Her.
What happened exactly?
Was it my fault? My wrong doing?
Will you let me know?
Well, no point asking, cause you'd probably run and hide...
Again...

Letting Go

I held you close to me,
Tried to surround you and protect you with my love,
To keep you safe from all harm,
But it was not what you needed.

I wanted to keep you for myself, encircled, sheltered,
Instead of allowing you to grow and flourish,
Spread your wings and explore your potential.
I now realize I cannot contain you
And that your happiness is best discovered without me.

To let you go, knowing I must set you free,
This is the hardest task I have ever done,
Fly away, fly high, fly free.
Go from my sight quickly and dont look back,
For if you do, you will see a smile covering a broken heart,
But the tears of loss are slowly replaced with the tears of joy,
Knowing your happiness will soon follow.

May your wings take you to magical places
and all your dreams be fulfilled.
Be happy in all you do and may you find your true love
That is what I have always wanted for you.

Let go now. That's what I think I'll do.

Bachelors' Night.

Just on the day before I leave Perth (for good), I came up with the 'brilliant' idea of hosting a dinner party - just for the guys. Sorry girls. We chilled at Malaysian Garden, and I must say the food portions were, erm, insufficient? Haha! But otherwise it was all good. The fellowship was awesome. Felt like it was just with my brothers. Brothers from Perth. Gonna miss all of you and thanks for showing up! :D
The Bachelors. (L-R, Chin Howe, TK, Josh, Derek, Jay, Me, Cheeky, Raymond, Junya, Tim Da Yong and Liong)
First Round. Now you see it...
...now you don't!
We got hungry again, so here's round 2.
Fooling around when we saw this...
...A "No Standing Any Time" Sign. Weird.
We just DIG that sign!
No standing? Sue us then!
Answering Nature's Call.. Ahh~!

Thanks for the good times guys!

May we meet in the near future.

Brothers for life!

Over and out.
